Overview

Royal Palace drops players into the majestic and technologically advanced heart of Wakanda, surrounding them with gleaming vibranium spires, carved stone terraces, and lush ceremonial gardens. The map's Domination mode centers around a contested objective point located in the grand central courtyard, where both teams converge from symmetrical spawns on either side of the palace grounds. The layout is deceptively open at its core but funnels teams through a series of archways and elevated walkways that create natural chokepoints and sightlines across the middle.

The map is structured across multiple vertical levels. The lower ground floor hosts the primary objective zone — an expansive circular plaza flanked by decorative vibranium pillars that offer partial cover. Above this, raised stone balconies and terraced platforms ring the courtyard, providing elevated angles for ranged damage dealers and snipers to control the flow of the fight below. These high-ground positions are among the most contested areas of the map and can decisively shift team fights in favor of whoever holds them longest.

Flanking routes on Royal Palace are plentiful and punishing. Narrow side corridors carved into the palace walls allow agile duelists to bypass the central chokepoints entirely, creating pressure from unexpected angles. A large ceremonial staircase on each team's side of the map serves as the primary advance route but is highly exposed, making coordinated pushes essential. Teams that spread their attention across multiple levels simultaneously tend to dominate the objective far more effectively than those who funnel into a single lane.

Thematically, Royal Palace is one of Marvel Rivals' most visually striking maps, bathed in golden afternoon light that filters through towering vibranium structures. The ambient sound of ceremonial drums and Wakandan chants adds to the immersive atmosphere. The map's design pays homage to the MCU and comic book iterations of Wakanda, with hieroglyphic murals, panther iconography, and advanced Wakandan technology woven into every corner of the environment.

⚔️ Attack Tips

When attacking on Royal Palace, the single most important principle is avoiding the central staircase as your only avenue of approach. Defenders almost always pre-position on the raised balconies flanking the objective, meaning a straight push up the stairs exposes your entire team to crossfire from above. Instead, split your team into at least two groups — send your primary tank or Vanguard up the center to draw attention and anchor aggression, while your Duelists take the side corridors to contest the high-ground balconies before committing to the objective itself. Winning the vertical battle before contesting the point is almost always the correct approach.

Coordination on the initial engage is critical. Royal Palace's objective zone sits in a relatively open area, meaning attackers who arrive without their full team will be picked apart by a well-positioned defense. Use your Strategist's utility to time a group push — wait for ultimate abilities, movement cooldowns, and healing resources to align before committing multiple players to the point at once. Heroes with strong dive or gap-closing abilities are especially valuable for punching through the defender's front line and disrupting their backline Strategists, who will often be positioned on upper terraces where they have strong sightlines to the capture zone.

Maintaining pressure on the flanks even after you've secured the objective is essential to holding it. Royal Palace's side corridors make it trivially easy for defenders to re-engage from unexpected angles once you plant on the point. Assign at least one mobile Duelist to watch the flanking entrances while your Vanguards hold the central space and your Strategists maintain positioning behind the vibranium pillars for cover. The pillars around the objective offer excellent partial cover and should be used actively to break line of sight from snipers or ranged heroes repositioning on the high ground after being displaced.

🛡️ Defense Tips

Defending on Royal Palace gives you a significant natural advantage if you respect the map's elevation structure. Your priority in the opening moments of each round should be to claim the balcony positions overlooking the central objective before attackers can contest them. Heroes with strong ranged output or area denial abilities placed on these elevated terraces can force the attacking team to deal with the high ground before they can safely approach the point, effectively buying your team crucial setup time. Never cede these positions without a fight, as losing the balconies often means losing control of the entire objective zone.

The vibranium pillar clusters around the objective's perimeter are a double-edged sword for defenders. While they offer cover, they also give attacking divers places to hide once they've broken through your front line. Position your Strategists slightly back from the objective rather than on it — placing them on the raised steps or at the base of the ceremonial staircase gives them both safety and the ability to heal teammates contesting the point without being directly in the brawl. Use area-of-effect defensive ultimates to punish attackers who stack on the objective, as the relatively contained circular plaza creates excellent zone-denial opportunities.

Anti-flank awareness is one of the most important defensive skills on Royal Palace. The side corridors that run along both edges of the map are a constant threat, and a single unchecked flanker can dismantle a defensive setup by eliminating the Strategist. Assign a fast, self-sufficient Duelist to patrol at least one side corridor and rotate to cover the other when necessary. Communication about flank pressure is vital — if your side Duelist calls out an incoming push through the corridor, your Vanguards should immediately attempt to peel or collapse on the threat before it reaches your backline. Defenders who successfully deny flank routes and hold the high ground simultaneously almost always hold the objective effectively.

🦸 Best Heroes

🦸
As the thematic ruler of Wakanda, Black Panther thrives on his home turf both aesthetically and mechanically. His exceptional mobility and wall-climbing abilities let him scale the balcony terraces instantly, contest high-ground positions before opponents can establish themselves, and dive backline Strategists through the side corridors with brutal efficiency. His kit rewards aggressive three-dimensional movement, which is precisely what Royal Palace demands from its Duelists.
🦸
ThorVanguard
Thor's ability to create sustained pressure in the open central courtyard makes him one of the strongest Vanguards on Royal Palace. His hammer throw and lightning abilities punish enemies clustered on the objective's circular plaza, and his crowd control tools are excellent for disrupting defenders holding the chokepoint archways. His durability and self-sustain allow him to anchor the center while teammates work the flanks.
🦸
Scarlet Witch's hovering movement and powerful area-of-effect chaos energy make her exceptionally strong on Royal Palace's multi-level layout. She can engage from mid-air over the terraced balconies, making her difficult to pin down while she controls the objective space below. Her ultimate ability's destructive radius is perfectly suited to punishing teams stacking on the capture point, and she can quickly relocate between levels to respond to flanks.
🦸
Luna SnowStrategist
Luna Snow's combination of strong single-target healing, area heals, and reliable self-protection makes her a top-tier Strategist on Royal Palace. She can safely support from behind the vibranium pillars near the objective and has enough mobility in her kit to reposition quickly when flanked through the side corridors. Her ultimate ability provides a powerful team-wide heal and damage buff that is game-changing when activated during a contested objective fight.
🦸
Hawkeye is one of the most potent high-ground abusers on Royal Palace. Positioned on the raised balconies overlooking the central courtyard, his charged arrow shots can eliminate targets on the objective below with frightening efficiency. His movement skill lets him reposition across the elevated platforms quickly, and his ability to chunk through tanks with fully charged shots makes him a constant threat that attackers must actively address before safely contesting the point.
🦸
MantisStrategist
Mantis brings crucial utility in Royal Palace's chaotic objective fights through her sleep abilities and damage amplification. Her capacity to lock down a diving flanker with crowd control is invaluable for protecting backline positions, and her healing output keeps frontline Vanguards alive long enough to maintain pressure on the capture point. She also provides meaningful offensive support through her damage-boosting seeds on targets standing on the objective.
🦸
MagnetoVanguard
Magneto's powerful shield bubble and projectile-reflecting abilities make him a strong defensive anchor for Royal Palace's objective zone. His ability to deny sightlines with his metal shields is especially useful for blocking the long-range fire coming from balcony positions, and his ultimate ability's magnetic pull can drag enemies off the objective or into dangerous positions for your team to follow up on. He provides reliable frontline bulk in the exposed central plaza.

📍 Key Locations

Grand Central Courtyard
The primary Domination capture point located at the heart of the Royal Palace grounds. This circular open plaza is surrounded by vibranium pillars that offer partial cover and features the main objective marker. The exposed nature of this space means holding it requires coordinated team positioning rather than individuals standing in the open — it is the epicenter of nearly every team fight on this map.
Ceremonial Staircases
Large, symmetrical stone staircases on both teams' sides of the map serve as the main advance route toward the central objective. While wide enough for multiple players, these stairs are completely exposed to defenders on the raised balconies above, making uncoordinated solo pushes up them extremely dangerous. Teams must have someone contesting the high ground before safely advancing up these stairs.
Raised Balcony Terraces
Elevated stone platforms that ring the central courtyard on both sides of the objective. These balcony positions offer commanding sightlines down into the capture zone below and are the most contested pieces of terrain on the entire map. Heroes who can utilize high ground effectively — ranged Duelists, hovering heroes, and wall-climbers — treat these as primary real estate to control early and hold throughout the match.
Side Palace Corridors
Narrow flanking routes carved into the palace walls on both sides of the map. These corridors bypass the main staircase and balcony chokepoints entirely, allowing mobile Duelists to reach the objective's flanks or dive directly into the enemy's backline. These routes must be watched continuously by defenders and used aggressively by attackers to prevent defenders from camping the high ground safely.
Vibranium Pillar Cluster
A series of tall decorative vibranium pillars surrounding the objective's perimeter that serve as the primary cover in the capture zone. Strategists often position behind these to heal teammates while breaking line of sight from ranged threats. The pillars also create natural choke corridors within the objective space itself, which can be exploited or denied depending on team composition and ability usage.
Archway Chokepoints
Carved stone archways at the base of each team's side of the map that funnel players from the spawn-side corridors into the central courtyard. These archways are natural defensive anchor positions where Vanguards can hold a line and area-denial abilities can be used to maximum effect. Controlling the archway on your attack side prevents defenders from easily contesting your advance route.
Upper Terrace Overlook
The highest accessible point on the map, positioned above the standard balcony terraces, providing a supreme vantage point over the entire central courtyard and objective zone. Only a handful of heroes with strong vertical mobility can effectively utilize this position, but those who do can apply significant pressure to both teams and force immediate attention from opponents.
